My Internship this Summer
It's been such a great learning experience. I'm working at the Koch Institute For Integrative Cancer Research at MIT, in the Hemann Lab. The lab studies the mechanisms of B-ALL (b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia) resistance to CAR-T therapy.
It's my first research experience. I've learned so much about immune and cancer biology – and I still know such a small percentage of all there is to know. I've learned some basic biology lab techniques, like a lot of pipetting.
I'm also learning what it takes to be great at what you do. A lot of patience, hard work, and humbleness. I mean, I knew these characteristics were important, but seeing people who embody these traits is another thing entirely.
I'll write more on this topic in the coming week!
